One of my first topics for this 30 days challenge is goals. I’m a goal oriented person; I like having something to work towards, and without a firm goal I find that I just sort of flounder. Of course, the flip side is that I can sometimes set too many goals at once, and then fail miserably at some (or all) of them in my quest to get it all done. So, it’s a balancing act, much like life. I think I’ve gotten better at it, but I think it will always be a work in progress.
With that, here are my goals for the rest of 2014!
1. Weight Loss – I don’t really want to lose any more weight. I’m sitting comfortably around 135, after weighing my heaviest at 197. I’m proud of the progress that I’ve made in keeping a healthy lifestyle, so my goal for this one is really just maintaining my weight loss.
2. Running – I’ve run two quarter marathon trail runs so far (6.55 miles) and had an absolute blast. I used to run regularly, but after my last knee surgery I’ve really struggled to get back into it. Pounding the pavement is pretty painful now, so that really keeps me from doing any major distances on the road, but the trails are so much nicer. The earth has way more give than the pavement, so I can go much further without hardly any pain. I much prefer trail runs, but there aren’t that many, so I’ve signed up for a few 5k races on the road (one in September and one in October). I figure I won’t do much more than 5k on the road anymore, but I’d really like to keep training on the trails and do a mini next year! The main goal for this year is to keep up my training, even during the winter.
3. Bathroom Remodel – This is one that is definitely in the works. Our goal is to finish the bathroom remodel by Thanksgiving, but I’m throwing it on here for 2014 to give us some wiggle room. Not much progress has been made over the summer, because we can’t stand to be cooped up working when it’s so nice outside. I’m pretty confident we’ll finish it up before Christmas, and can enjoy it over our holiday break! Heated floors are going to be SO nice!
4. Finish all current crochet projects – I have three projects that I am currently working on. All three are blankets; two are for friends who have had babies, and one is for my mother. My goal is to get those all finished up by Christmas so I can give them away as gifts. At that point, I think I’d actually like to make something for myself!
So, there you have it! My goals to get me through the rest of 2014. It’s going to be a busy fall and winter, but I think they’re all achievable if I put my mind to it. I’m actually looking forward to fall, so that we’re more involved inside the house. That’ll really help us get goals 3 and 4 finished up! What about you all? Any major goals to finish up the year with?
