On why my housewifery skills need work.

Normally, I am on top of things.  Ok…let’s be honest…SOMETIMES I am on top of things.  But lately?  Lately, I have sucked.  The house hasn’t been getting clean, the laundry is piling up, and I can’t remember the last time I cooked a proper meal.  Work has been rough, but that’s no excuse.  In reality, I’ve been lazy.  I’ve let things slip and it’s become harder to get going.

But…I’m trying to turn over a new leaf.  This past weekend, I deep cleaned the entire house (including the basement…woohoo!), and managed to get all the laundry finished.  I would like to eat the majority of our meals at home this week…and I’ve even managed to eat both breakfast and lunch from home today (this is actually a big deal for me…don’t judge).  Dinner tonight is being cooked by J, so that’ll be nice.  I’ve been trying to work out ways to be more organized at home, and I’ve broken up the house into “zones” in order to focus my cleaning.  I figure, a little bit each day is far better than hours spent on the weekend, so I’m going to work on that.

Then, this weekend, is our anniversary dinner!  On Friday, J and I will have been married for six years.  I have planned a dinner for us at Fogo de Chao on Saturday.  As many of you know, I am primarily vegetarian, but every now and then I’ll eat meat.  I’d say 97% of the time I eat a vegetarian diet, and even when I eat meat, it’s sparingly.  However, J has been wanting to go to this restaurant for ages, and I’d like to try it out too, so I figure…what the hell…let’s do it!

After that, next week we leave for Seattle for vacation!  I am so excited to see a new city and spend time with R and her fiancé, S.  We’re also going to meet up with some friends that moved out to Seattle from our little slice of Midwest heaven, whom we haven’t seen in nearly five years.  It’ll be great!  Plus…a wedding being held at a spa…can anyone say massage??  Super excited there!

So, that’s about it.  Life continues to be busy, and I’m struggling to play “catch-up”, but I’ll get there eventually.  I think, overall, I just need a break.  Hopefully after our vacation, I’ll come back rejuvenated and ready to tackle the house again (including the massive bathroom remodel).  For the most part, I’m just holding out until next week!

Much love,
K.
